The P2 and It’s Powerful Pulling Advantage

Trucks December 20, 2016

The P2 and It's Powerful Pulling Advantage

Have you ever wanted a really powerful, compact pickup. It’s compact, but that doesn’t mean it’s not big, too. I just mean they pack a lot into it. How many people out there have even heard of these trucks before? Well, here you go. You can check out the specs, and feast your eyes on a range of their offerings to the “ultimate pickup” market.

One thing you’ll want to know about these trucks is the pulling feature. When you use these units to pull something, you’re not pulling with the body of your truck. You pull with the frame rails, preserving the integrity of the vehicle’s body structure. When you consider all the trips, and thousands of miles some trucks pull loads, you can see where keeping that weight off the truck body can be a benefit.

Some Key Specifications of the Base Model:

•Freightliner M2 Sport 106 •Cummins ISL-350 8.3L 350 HP @ 2000 RPM; 2200 GOV, 1050 LB/FT @ 1400 RPM •Allison transmission TRV Series 3200
Tires & Wheels
•F/L Domed Turbo 22.5X8.25 10-HUB PILOT aluminum wheels •255/70R22.5 16ply radial tires
Cab Interior
•Spacious luxury class crew cab •No CDL required •Short turning radius •Backup cameras •Leather wrapped steering wheel •Air-ride premium leather seating •In-motion Wi-Fi System •4-camera observation system •In-motion digital satellite system •Lay down rear sofa •Marine grade carpet and protective floor mats •USB power ports 115-volt power outlet •Power widow and door lock controls •Keyless entry •Remote start available •Navigation •Smart connect touch screen stereo •Multi-media entertainment system

A Camper Mounted to a Firetruck!

RVs, Trucks December 20, 2016

Hold the phone! What is that?

Maybe the only one I’ve ever seen, it’s a firetruck (and a classic at that) with a huge camper mounted to it. Power, style, uniqueness, and RVing comfort bundled into one surprising camper unit.

The truck is a 1978 Wildland International Harvester Loadstar 1700 fire truck. It belongs to a couple, Thomas Atkins and Sequoia Buck, who converted the off-road ready big machine into a flat-bed, triple-slide RV camper. They were recently interviewed by Truck Camper Magazine because of this truck’s outstandingness. They’re actually going to feature this in a calendar, so you can get a printed copy of it that way.

For those wondering about that big camper unit, it’s an Eagle Cap 1165.

What did the couple have to say about their RV camper job? “I belonged to the volunteer fire company in Sonoma County, California for fifteen years. The 1978 International Harvester Loadstar 1700 was our Wildland fire truck. The fire company acquired the truck in the early 1990s. In the 2000s, the truck was replaced by Sonoma County with an International Navstar, a newer version of the truck, that was more modern and aggressive. The older International couldn’t be inside the fire station bay anymore, so it sat in our front yard next door.”

They were going to turn the truck into a farmtruck until they thought of the idea of realizing a long-time caravan for RVing trips.

Now here’s a camper with a view! New sweet camper design you have to see to believe (Interior Photos)

RVs December 20, 2016

Now here's a camper with a view! New sweet camper design you have to see to believe (Interior Photos)

Have you ever seen a camper like this before? In recent decades, we’ve seen a trend towards more and more windows on houses, but now it seems RVs are liking this idea, too!

This is the new cabin from Gehocab. It’s based on the new VW truck, the Amarok (pictured). And the camper unit is called the Gehocab Kora (Kora-Wohnkabine), a carbon fiber unit to take panoramic views to the RV level.

Did you notice in the photo this cabin has side-entry? It’s kind of like a bus!

Because it’s made of carbon fiber, it’s a very light unit sitting on the truck – empty, its just 125 kilograms, and fully loaded and stocked with fresh water, its 775 kilos.

However, this camper isn’t exactly like other units you may have seen. It’s built directly onto the Amarok frame, which might be inconvenient for some consumers wanting a unit they can easily lift off and put on again. However, what this means is they can reduce the amount of stuff sitting on the truck by hundreds of kilograms. So for people who want to keep their camper on their truck most of the time, they will be saving in fuel.

Key specs:
Length: 4.85 meters
Battery location: above rear axle
Fresh water storage: above rear axle
Awning: Up to 3.2 meter long sun awning, housed in an interior awning bo
Tank (water): 140-liter
Alcove: 1.95 x 2.0 meters (1.4m in the front)

Technical specifications: VW Amarok DC 2.0 TDI BMT 4Motion Highline
Outside dimensions: 5254 x 1944 x 1834 mm
Displacement / engine: 1968 cc / 4-cylinder
power: 132 kW / 180 hp at 4000 rpm
top speed: 174 km / h
consumption: 7.5 l / 100 km
test consumption: diesel

Barefoot Camper Packs Plenty into its Tiny Dimensions

RVs December 20, 2016

Barefoot Camper Packs Plenty into its Tiny Dimensions

Similar in shape to the newer Airstream mini travel trailers, here’s another compact travel and camping option. It’s called a “Barefoot.” It’s based on the idea of the retro camping tourers that have seen a new resurgence of popularity in the last couple of years. These stylish RVs have more rounded lines than the basic rectangular shapes of most commercial trailers.

This one was designed by some students at Coventry University, and they took the idea of a couple’s caravan to come up with the unit, which is a single piece GRP.

A basic rundown of the specifications for this little travel trailer:

Technical specs:
Berth 2
MiRO 910kg
Payload 140kg
MTPLM 1050kg
Interior length 3.56m
Shipping length 5.08m
Width 1.92m
