Actually, I’ve thought about making a convertible van a few times, but I see that a lot of people are already doing this. In this case, its using older VW vans. Often used as RVs, here they’re also used as ATVs!
The thing about convertibles is they need a proper amount of structure to hold the parts in place so the vehicle doesn’t just fold inward, hence convertibles are built stronger and heavier, or they use bars above the convertible area to hold the sides apart.
Some of these VW RV ATV conversion jobs are just convertibles, and look kind of like golf carts, and others have been modified with reinforced structures in order to withstand the bumps and smashes of off-roading. Seems they have a lot of sand around them, so maybe this is a Mexico thing.
RV Van Sleeps 4 with Outstanding Ergonomic Features and Functionality
Looks like there’s a new RV on the market. It’s a small luxury camper van, that maybe tends a bit towards the luxury motorhome end of the spectrum, but in a compact package. It’s the Aktiv by Hymer.
