Look familiar? The new 2019 Ram heavy duty pickups (2500 three quarter and 3500 one-ton) look to many people like the Ram 1500, the light duty machine that’s been selling like hotcakes recently.
With size, though, comes power, when it comes to the new Rams. And also torque and towing. Currently these Ram HDs are the most powerful in their class, but these days new editions by all the top auto makers seem to outdo recent models. It’s definitely an era of fast paced improvements to auto machinery and capabilities.
The Ram 3500, for example, tows 35,1000 pounds (diesel model), and can carry a payload of 7,680 pounds. Find me a trailer or load you want to tow in a pickup that this won’t cover.
The Ram HD also has 1000 pound feet of torque with it’s 400 horsepower 6.7 liter Cummins turbo-diesel.
They did it: The first HD pickup with 1000 LB-FT of torque.
The gas powered version has a 6.4 liter V8 Hemi with 410 horses and 429 pound feet of torque.
Ram pickups are super popular right now. Remember when Dodge brought the 1993 Ram out, and how different and nice it looked compared to the other early 90s pickups? They sold very well then, but 2018 was another great year for Ram, with the most sales since the 93 peak. What do you think they’re doing right?
