A custom sleeper cabover semi like this just cannot be missed when it rolls down the street. Not only does this one shout “customized” but also you get such a classic vibe from it. 70s COE!
So is this more a custom cabover or a small apartment on wheels from 3 decades ago? This used to be a truck belonging to a driving school (if you can imagine learning to drive as an owner-operator or driver on one like this?) in Elm Mott, Texas, but this wasn’t the only custom tractor they had: they also had a conventional with matching brown and gold paint and they’d park them out on the Interstate 35.
It was also used as an old ATDS truck, apparently. It was a show truck from the company in Ardmore, Oklahoma (also a commercial truck driving school) in the late 1990’s. This truck driving school didn’t continue, and the custom cabover was picked up by Cliff Williams of Oklahoma Truck Supply chrome custom shop in Tonkawa. Later on, the giant semi sleeper unit was removed, and the tractor was shortened and repainted white. Some say it can now be found in its new form in Ontario. The sleeper unit is now on another semi.
You can buy used older Kenworth K100s, K200s, and K300s like this though still, if anyone wants to redo (or out-do) this custom eyecatcher tractor. You see them for around $20,000 and up, and new ones can be around $50,000 and up, while companies like ARI sleepers can convert any tractor into a huge custom RV luxury machine like this cabover.
