We’ve seen a lot of big semis and a lot of really customized tractors done up by owner-operator truck drivers, truck driving schools, and drivers themselves, but this 200″er is one of our favorites. It’s a custom extended sleeper called “Southern Pride” and it was owned by the Bennetts, and may still be owned by them. It’s either that or it was sold at some point to a SPT driver.

The “Southern Pride” company used this for their main transport work: hauling get engines from airport to airport in the US doing expedited shipping, and since that’s the kind of haul they do, the can (and did) have a lot of these big sleeper tractors in their San Diego office.

With giant custom sleeper units like this (some of them even have one or more slide outs like luxury RV motorhomes and trailers have), drivers can be out on the road for extended periods and be comfortable even without having to find a hotel.

The weight of a big sleeper semi truck like this is something a lot of people want more information about. But apparently its not always such a big deal, depending on how the truck driver needs his or her rig configured. And of course if you’re hauling cargo like expensive jet engines, its another story from hauling a lot of more commonplace loads. The size of this tractor: a 385 inch wheel base and a 205 inch double eagle sleeper – this is actually the longest factory-made truck so far.
